Susan Searle wurde in New York, USA, 1942 geboren. Ihre Familie zog nach Connecticut um, als sie zehn Jahre alt war. Im Alter von sechzehn besuchte Susan Life Classes in der Madison Schule of Art.
Jahre später nach dem Umzug nach Kalifornien, entdeckte Susan Ginny Lancaster, von welcher sie die Grundlagen des Arbeitens mit Emaille lernte. Sie verband ihre neu gefundene Liebe zum emaillieren mit dem Aufziehen der ersten fünf, ihrer neun Kinder. Ein bemerkenswerter Balanceakt!
Im Jahr 1972 zog die Familie nach England um, wo Susan expandierte, und ihren eigenen einzigartigen Stil und Technik entwickelte. Sie eröffnete ihre erste Gallerie in Torrington, Devon, mit dem Namen „Pigs can Fly“.
Während einer 3-Wöchigen Ausstellung bei Harrods in London verkaufte sie ihre Werke nach ganz Europa, Amerika und nach Japan.
Susan verkaufte die Galerie und ging mit ihren 4 jüngsten Töchtern auf die Insel Symi wo sie ihre Emaille-Arbeiten weiter führte und verkaufte. Nach 4 Jahren kehrte sie wieder nach England zurück.
Susan lebt nun seit 7 Jahren in der Algarve. Sie restauriert langsam ihr altes Bauernhaus und erweitert das Spektrum ihrer Emaillearbeit, indem sie auch Glas integriert.
Susan hat ihre Arbeit in Gallerien, Hotels, Läden und Restaurants in der ganzen Algarve ausgestellt.
Susan eröffnete die „Off the Wall Galeria“ in Alte im Oktober 2006 und es war von Anfang an ein voller Erfolg.
Ungefähr 20 Künstler verschiedener Nationalitäten zeigen ihre aussergewöhnliche Kunst in der „Off the Wall Galeria“ in Alte (Algarve Portugal).
Die entspannte Atmosphäre lädt zum verweilen und diskutieren ein. Alte ist um eine Attraktion reicher.

Susan Searle was born in New York City, USA, in 1942. Her family moved to Connecticut when she was ten years old. At the age of sixteen, Susan attended life classes at the Madison School of Art where she was taught oils under the tutelage of Brackman.
Years later, after moving to California, Susan discovered Ginny Lancaster, a multi talented artist who taught the rudiments of enamelling. She combined her new found love of enamelling and raising the first five of her nine children. Quite a balancing act!
In 1972, the family moved to England where Susan expanded and developed her own unique style and technique. She opened her first art gallery in Torrington, Devon, called "Pigs can Fly" after a successful 3 week exhibition at Harrods in London. her work was selling throughout England, America, japan, and Europe.
Susan sold the gallery and went to live on the island of Symi in Greece with her four youngest daughters.She worked and sold her enamels for 4 years before returning to England.
Susan now lives in the Algarve, arriving nearly seven years ago.She is slowly restoring an old farmhouse and concentrating on her enamel work , which has expanded to combing stained glass with the enamel pictures , and jewelery making.She has exhibited her work in art galleries, ,hotels, discerning shops and restaurants all over the Algarve.
Susan opened the art gallery, Off the Wall Galeria, in Alte, in October 2006 and it has been a roaring success ever since.At least twenty different artist of many nationalities exhibit their extraordinary art in the gallery. The relaxed atmosphere gives visitors to Alte the added attraction of seeing so much talent in one place.
